GSWS doctoral certificate student Hillary Ash from the Department of Communication has been awarded a Woodrow Wilson Dissertation Fellowship in Women's Studies 2019 for her dissertation, Defining a Crisis: the Rhetorical Exclusion of Women in the United States’ AIDS Epidemic, 1982-1993.
This is the second year in a row that a GSWS doctoral certificate student has been awarded one of these fellowships: last year, Maria Lis Baiocchi from the Department of Anthropology was awarded a Woodrow Wilson Dissertation Fellowship in Women's Studies 2018 for her dissertation, Becoming Workers: Changing Labor Laws and Domestic Workers’ Challenges in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The Woodrow Wilson Dissertation Fellowship in Women's Studies supports students in their final year of the PhD working towards completion of their dissertations. It remains the only national fellowship supporting exclusively students working on women's and gendered issues in the humanities and social sciences and encouraging the next generation of scholars in GSWS.
