Brackenridge Fellow Alison Hnatow Studies Netflix Series

Alison Hnatow, a double major in GSWS and Politics and Philosophy, has been awarded a Brackenridge Fellowship this summer to study Anne with an E, the 2017 Netflix and CBC adaption of L.M. Montgomery's novel Anne of Green Gables. Like the novel, the series presents a coming-of-age story that focuses on gender roles, societal and community integration, and interpersonal relationships.

Hnatow brings an interest in highlighting queer, diverse, and decolonized girlhoods to her analysis of the television adaptation.  Dr. Julie Beaulieu is the faculty sponsor for this project.
